Te mapa
Heusden forms, together with Zolder, the municipality of Heusden-Zolder in the Belgian province of Limburg. From above it is not a single compact town but a spread of villages and neighbourhoods linked by roads through woodland and heath, typical of the Kempen landscape. Built-up areas appear as clusters separated by green rather than a continuous urban fabric.
The twentieth century left a strong mark. The Zolder coal mine brought new districts for mining families, the cités, with regular plots and planned street layouts that differ clearly from the older village cores. The mine closed in 1992, but its former site and the housing around it remain easy to read on the map.
Heusden-Zolder is best known internationally for Circuit Zolder, the motor racing track that hosted the Belgian Formula One Grand Prix several times. Its winding loop shows as a distinctive shape among the trees. A Heusden map poster gathers these elements, woodland, mining estates, village centres and circuit, into one clean composition.
The racing circuit traces a long, looping line through the woods, one of the most recognisable shapes on the poster and a landmark for motorsport fans.
Housing built for the families of the Zolder colliery shows as planned districts with regular plots, a clear record of the town's industrial past.
Pine woods and heathland separate the built-up areas, leaving broad open spaces that give the map a relaxed, airy rhythm.

Koteā ko Heusden
For families with roots in the mines, many descended from workers who came from Italy, Turkey and elsewhere, Heusden holds a particular meaning. A map honours that history quietly, and it also suits racing fans who know Zolder mainly from the circuit.
