Te mapa
Huiqu is a town in Shandong province in eastern China, in the farming country of the province's central uplands and plains. Like many Chinese towns of its size, it is a local centre for the villages around it, and the map shows a compact built-up core with roads running out into cultivated land.
The street pattern is simple and mostly orthogonal, with a few main roads carrying traffic through the town and a looser web of lanes toward the edges. Around it, fields form a patchwork broken up by village clusters, tree lines and small watercourses, the texture of rural Shandong.
Shandong is one of China's most populous and agriculturally important provinces. A Huiqu map poster keeps the look of the everyday countryside there: a working town, the roads that tie it to its villages, and the orderly farmland in between.
A few principal roads cross the town and carry on into the countryside. They give the map a clear skeleton with the smaller streets fitting in around it.
Small villages appear around the town as dense spots within the fields. The result is a rhythmic, scattered pattern across the poster.
Farmland divided into plots fills the space between settlements. It adds a quiet background texture to the central streets.
