Te mapa
Irapuato lies in the Bajío, the broad agricultural plain of central Mexico, in the state of Guanajuato. The land is level, and the city spreads evenly across it. The historic centre has a compact grid of streets around its main squares and churches. Around that, newer neighbourhoods and industrial parks extend outward, enclosed and crossed by major roads.
The city is known throughout Mexico for strawberries, grown in the fields that surround it. It is also an important transport hub, located on highways and rail lines that link the cities of the Bajío, including León, Celaya and Salamanca. In recent years, manufacturing, especially related to the automotive industry, has expanded around the edges of the city.
A Irapuato map poster shows a city that is easy to read. The dense centre stands out clearly, main roads radiate toward neighbouring cities, and ring roads form wide loops around the built-up area. Beyond them, the regular divisions of the fields continue the pattern into the countryside. The overall effect is calm, balanced and geometric.
