Te mapa
Itumbiara lies in southern Goiás, on the banks of the Paranaíba River, which forms the border with the state of Minas Gerais. On a map, the river is the city's defining edge: a wide band of water with a bridge carrying the BR-153 highway, one of Brazil's main north–south routes, across to the other state.
The city's streets follow a largely regular grid, with long straight avenues and square blocks typical of cities in central Brazil. The grid extends away from the river onto the plateau, and newer neighbourhoods spread out on the edges with their own geometric layouts.
Upstream, the Itumbiara hydroelectric plant dams the Paranaíba and creates a large reservoir, an important source of power for the region. The surrounding land is agricultural, with soy, sugar cane and cattle. An Itumbiara map poster places the ordered grid beside the broad river, showing a city shaped by water and by the road that crosses it.
The broad river forms the state border along one edge of the city, a wide band of water that anchors the composition.
The highway crosses the river into Minas Gerais on a long bridge, drawn as a clean straight line across the open water.
Straight avenues and square blocks cover the city, giving the poster an orderly rhythm that ends at the river's edge.

Koteā ko Itumbiara
Itumbiara sits at the meeting point of two states, and for the people who live there the river and the bridge are part of daily life. A map of the city captures that in a simple, calm image.
