Te mapa
Karben lies in the Wetterau, just north of Frankfurt. The town was formed in 1970 by merging several villages, and from above you can still see them: separate clusters of streets set apart by fields, linked by roads. The Nidda River runs through the valley, its green banks forming a soft line across the map.
Each part of Karben has its own centre, often around an old church or a village square, surrounded by newer housing. An S-Bahn line connects the town to Frankfurt, and the rail corridor makes a straight line through the landscape. Between the settlements, the open farmland of the Wetterau fills the gaps with a pattern of fields.
A Karben map poster shows a town made of pieces. Instead of one dense core, there are several small hubs, the Nidda valley and the fields that hold everything together. In monochrome the structure becomes clear: a group of villages that grew into one town without losing their separate outlines.

Karben was formed in 1970 from several villages. On the map each still appears as its own cluster of streets, separated by open land.
The rail line north from Frankfurt crosses the town in a straight corridor, linking the separate districts to the city a short ride away.
