Te mapa
Kariya lies in central Aichi Prefecture, on the flat land south of Nagoya that drains into Kinuura Bay. From above it is a closely built city of small blocks, crossed by railway lines and bordered by modest rivers. Large factory sites form rectangular spaces among the housing, which gives the map a distinctive rhythm.
The city is central to the history of the Toyota group. Toyota Industries, which grew from Sakichi Toyoda's automatic loom business, is headquartered here, as are major automotive suppliers such as Denso and Aisin. Much of Kariya's shape reflects that industrial role, with plants, company housing and transport links placed side by side.
A Kariya map poster turns that industrial structure into a clean drawing. Railway lines cross the city, rivers and canals run toward the bay, and the dense residential streets fill the space between the large factory rectangles. In black and white, the different textures combine into an ordered, crisp composition.
Large industrial sites form wide rectangles within the city. On the map they stand out as calm blocks against the fine grain of residential streets.
Several railway lines cross Kariya and connect it with Nagoya and the rest of Aichi, cutting clear lines through the urban fabric.
Small rivers and drainage channels cross the flat plain toward the bay, adding soft curves to an otherwise tightly organised city.
