Te mapa
Keetmanshoop is the main town of Namibia's Karas Region, in the dry south of the country. From above, it forms a tidy grid of streets laid out on flat, open ground. The railway line and the B1 highway pass through, linking the town north to Windhoek and south toward the border with South Africa. Beyond the last blocks, the land opens into wide, sparse desert.
The town grew from a Rhenish mission station in the nineteenth century, and its old stone mission church now serves as a museum. Keetmanshoop is also known as a base for visiting the nearby Quiver Tree Forest and the Giant's Playground, a field of stacked dolerite boulders.
A Keetmanshoop map poster captures the order of a town set on open land. The rectilinear streets stand out against the empty space around them, and the long lines of road and rail run off the edges of the sheet. The effect is quiet and architectural, well suited to a minimalist monochrome style.
The town centre follows a clear pattern of straight streets and rectangular blocks. On the map it forms a crisp, orderly shape surrounded by unbuilt ground.
The railway and the B1 highway both pass through Keetmanshoop. Their long, straight lines cut across the sheet and show the town's role as a hub of the south.
The historic Rhenish mission church stands within the old core of the town. It is a reminder of the settlement's beginnings as a mission station in the nineteenth century.

Koteā ko Keetmanshoop
Keetmanshoop is a stop on many journeys through southern Namibia, and it is home to many more people who know it well. A map poster is a restrained way to remember a long road trip, a posting or a family's roots in the south.
Set your own title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the date of a trip, and choose from five styles. Sand and Paper suit the desert setting especially well. It is available as a $9 set of HD files, with a free watermarked preview first.
