Te mapa
Kyōtango lies at the northern tip of Kyoto Prefecture, on the Tango Peninsula facing the Sea of Japan. The city was created in 2004 from the merger of six towns, so it has several small centres spread across coastal plains and valleys rather than one dense core.
The coast is the main feature on the map. There are long sandy beaches, rocky headlands and coastal lagoons connected to the sea. Kotohikihama, a beach known for sand that squeaks underfoot, lies along this shore. Inland, forested hills leave only narrow valleys, where rice fields and settlements follow rivers and roads.
The area has long been known for Tango chirimen, a silk crepe woven here for centuries. A Kyōtango map poster captures the region's quieter side: a varied coastline, scattered towns and a network of roads threading through the hills.
Beaches, headlands and small coves line the northern edge of the city, making a long, irregular coastline that frames the top of the map.
Lagoons separated from the sea by strips of sand form smooth, enclosed water shapes near the coast, adding calm areas to the composition.
The former town centres sit in valleys and plains between forested hills, so the map shows several small clusters linked by winding roads.

Koteā ko Kyōtango
Kyōtango is a place people remember for summer beaches, weaving workshops or family homes along the coast. A map of it is a quiet, personal reminder of northern Kyoto away from the city crowds.
You can title it in Japanese or English, add a date or coordinates, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint shows the coastline especially well.
