Louny Map Poster & Print
Louny lies on the Ohře river in northwest Bohemia, and its map still shows the shape of a medieval royal town. The historic centre is a compact oval on the river's right bank, with a regular pattern of streets around the square. Newer districts spread outward, and railway lines converge here, as Louny has long been a local junction.
The town's best-known building is the Church of St. Nicholas, a late Gothic work by Benedikt Rejt, with an unusual tent-like roof that is a local symbol. Stretches of the old walls survive, along with the Žatec Gate. Louny is also the birthplace of the poet Jaroslav Vrchlický.
