Loveland Map Poster & Print
Loveland lies in northern Colorado, where the plains meet the first ridges of the Rocky Mountains. From above it is a wide grid of section-line roads, with long north-south and east-west avenues marking out square-mile blocks. Inside those squares, newer neighbourhoods curve and loop, so the map shows the regular frame of the plains filled in by the winding streets of suburbs.
Water shapes the city as much as the grid does. Lake Loveland sits close to the centre, Boyd Lake lies to the north-east, and smaller reservoirs and irrigation ditches are scattered across the area. The Big Thompson River crosses the south side of town after leaving its canyon in the foothills. Loveland is known as the Sweetheart City, and each February its post office remails thousands of valentines with a special Loveland postmark.

The avenues form a firm lattice, the lakes sit in it as solid shapes, and the western edge breaks into the looser lines of hogbacks and foothill roads. Big Thompson River
The river leaves the mountains through a narrow canyon west of town and then wanders east across the southern neighbourhoods, with its curves cutting across the square-mile grid.
Section-line grid
Long arterial roads laid on the old one-mile survey grid give Loveland its underlying structure. The curving subdivisions inside each square make up most of the fine texture on the map.
