Te mapa
Mableton lies in southern Cobb County, Georgia, just west of Atlanta and close to the Chattahoochee River. Long an unincorporated community, it voted to become a city in 2022, becoming one of the largest cities in the county almost overnight. Its layout reflects decades of suburban growth, with winding residential streets, older crossroads and commercial corridors rather than a single historic grid.
The community takes its name from Robert Mable, a Scottish immigrant whose nineteenth-century house still stands and now serves as an arts centre. The Silver Comet Trail, a long paved path built on a former railway line, passes through Mableton on its way west toward Alabama. The terrain is rolling Piedmont land, with creeks and wooded valleys between neighbourhoods.
A Mableton map poster shows a suburban city that has only recently found its official shape. The rail-trail cuts a long, smooth line across the frame, residential streets loop around hills and creeks, and the river and major highways lie to the east. The result is intricate and organic, with none of the rigid grid of older towns.
The paved trail follows an old railway alignment through Mableton, a long gentle curve that stands out among the more irregular residential streets.
The river runs close to the city's eastern side, a broad natural line that separates it from Atlanta and adds a strong edge to a wider composition.
Streets curve around hills and follow creek valleys, giving Mableton's suburban districts a flowing, organic pattern typical of the Georgia Piedmont.
