Marino is one of the Castelli Romani, the group of towns scattered across the Alban Hills southeast of Rome. Its historic centre sits on a spur of volcanic rock, with streets winding along the edge of the ridge and dropping steeply toward the valleys. From above, the old core is a tight, irregular cluster, while newer districts spread down the slopes toward the plain.
The town is best known for its Sagra dell'Uva, the grape festival held every October since the 1920s, when the fountains in the centre famously run with wine. Marino also gives its name to a local white wine, and its territory reaches the rim of Lake Albano, whose crater appears at the edge of the map as a smooth oval.
Beneath the town lies a Roman Mithraeum, discovered in the 1960s and known for its well-preserved frescoes. A Marino map poster captures the layered geography of the Alban Hills: the dense historic centre, the roads looping down toward Rome and Ciampino, and the calm curve of the volcanic lake nearby to the south.
The old town follows the shape of a volcanic spur, its narrow streets bending with the edge of the ridge and forming a compact, irregular core at the centre of the poster.
Marino's territory extends to the rim of the crater lake, whose clean oval outline adds a strong, simple shape to one side of the map.
Several roads descend from the hills toward Rome and Ciampino, drawing long diagonal lines across the slopes and connecting the town to the plain below.

Koteā ko Marino
Marino is a town of autumn visits, wine and long lunches in the hills above Rome, and many people keep a memory of it from a Sagra dell'Uva or a summer spent in the Castelli. A map of its ridge and lake holds that memory precisely.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be edited, so you can add the date of a wedding or a first visit. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, as HD files for $9 or a matte printed poster.
