Te mapa
Navadwīp lies in Nadia district, West Bengal, on the west bank of the Bhagirathi, the stretch of the Ganges that becomes the Hooghly further south. On a map the river is the dominant feature, wide and curving, and the land around it is marked by abandoned channels and crescent-shaped lakes showing where the river once flowed. The name is often read as nine islands.
The town is a dense network of narrow lanes, temples and ghats pressed against the riverbank, with few straight roads. Navadwīp was a leading centre of Sanskrit learning, especially the Navya-Nyaya school of logic, and it is revered as the birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the fifteenth-century saint whose devotional movement shaped Vaishnavism in Bengal.
Across the river lies Mayapur, headquarters of ISKCON, and pilgrims cross between the two by ferry. A Navadwīp map poster frames the town together with the river and its old meanders, capturing a place where the landscape has been changing for centuries while faith has kept the town firmly at the water's edge.
The wide river curves past the town, separating it from Mayapur on the opposite bank. It forms the strongest line on the poster, with ghats along the western shore.
Old, cut-off meanders lie around the town as curved lakes and marshy channels, traces of the river's former course that give the map an unusual, organic pattern.
The core of the town is a close mesh of narrow lanes lined with temples and houses, a fine, intricate texture very different from planned modern towns.

Koteā ko Navadwīp
Navadwīp draws devotees, pilgrims, scholars and families who have lived here for generations. A map of it is a quiet reminder of a sacred place, and of a river that has shaped both the town's layout and its history.
