Nūrpur is a town in Bijnor district in western Uttar Pradesh, on the level farmland between the Ganges and the foothills of the Himalaya. It serves as a local market for the villages around it, and its streets have grown outward from an older centre along the roads that lead to neighbouring towns.
From above, the town appears as a compact knot of lanes and small blocks, with markets and houses packed closely together near the middle. Toward the edges the pattern loosens into larger plots, orchards and open ground, and then gives way to the regular fields that cover this part of the Gangetic plain.
