Te mapa
Oak Harbor lies on the northern half of Whidbey Island in Puget Sound, facing a shallow, sheltered bay that gives the city its name. From above, the shoreline curves gently past a marina and waterfront park, and the street grid climbs inland from it. Residential neighbourhoods fill the gentler ground, then give way to open fields and the long runways of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
The name comes from the Garry oaks that early settlers found growing near the shore, and some of those trees still stand in the city. Dutch immigrants arrived in the early twentieth century and left a lasting mark on local life; the town still celebrates that heritage each spring. The naval air station, opened during the Second World War, shaped much of the city's later growth.
An Oak Harbor map poster pairs the quiet curve of the bay with the island's irregular coastline and the straight geometry of the airfield. It is a map of a place where water, farmland and aviation sit unusually close together, and it reads clearly at any size.
A shallow bay tucks into the island's eastern shore, and the city's waterfront, marina and park trace its gentle curve along the bottom edge of downtown.
North of the city, the runways of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island cut crisp straight lines into the land, a striking contrast with the softer coastline.
Whidbey Island's shore bends through coves and headlands around the city, framing the streets with water on several sides when the view is wide.

Koteā ko Oak Harbor
For Navy families, a posting on Whidbey Island is often a chapter worth remembering, and for islanders the bay is simply home. This map captures both: the harbour, the neighbourhoods and the airfield in one calm, legible composition.
