Te mapa
Orito lies in the department of Putumayo in southern Colombia, where the Andes drop down toward the Amazon basin. On a map, the town is a compact cluster of streets in a landscape dominated by forest, farmland and winding rivers, and the foothills rise to the west.
The town grew with the oil industry. Oil was found in the area in the 1960s, and Orito became the starting point of the Trans-Andean pipeline that crosses the mountains to the Pacific port of Tumaco. Roads leading out of town toward wells and neighbouring settlements are the main straight lines in a landscape otherwise shaped by water.
An Orito map poster shows a frontier town in its setting: a small, fairly regular grid, rivers looping through the lowland, and the first ridges of the Andes at the edge. It is a sparse but characterful composition for anyone connected to Putumayo.
A compact grid of blocks forms the centre of Orito, clearly separated from the forest and farmland that surround it on the map.
Rivers and streams wind through the land around the town, their irregular curves adding the most natural texture to the poster.
Orito is where the Trans-Andean pipeline begins its route across the mountains to Tumaco, a link that shaped the growth of the town.

Koteā ko Orito
For families in Putumayo and for those who worked in the oil fields, Orito means a specific chapter of life at the edge of the Amazon. A poster of its streets and rivers keeps that place present, wherever you now live.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed to record a name, a date or a message in Spanish. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Choose the $9 HD files or a printed poster.
