Te mapa
Oro Valley lies just north of Tucson, Arizona, in the Sonoran Desert, at the western foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The dramatic face of Pusch Ridge rises directly above the town, and on the map the rugged mountain terrain forms a sharp contrast to the suburban streets spreading across the valley floor.
Incorporated in 1974, the town grew as a residential community, and its layout reflects that: curving streets, cul-de-sacs and golf courses spread across the desert, following the gentle slopes. The Cañada del Oro wash, a dry streambed that runs with water after storms, winds through the area, giving the valley its name.
Catalina State Park lies on the northern edge of the town, with trails leading into the foothills and canyons. An Oro Valley map poster shows the flowing suburban street pattern, the washes that cross it and the steep, dense contours of the mountains that frame the town on its eastern side.
The steep western face of the Santa Catalina Mountains rises directly above the town, its rugged terrain filling the eastern edge of the map.
This dry wash winds through the valley, carrying water after storms and giving the town its name, visible as a meandering line across the map.
Residential streets loop and curve across the desert floor, interspersed with golf courses, creating an organic pattern very different from Tucson's grid.
