Te mapa
Pandua lies in Hooghly district in West Bengal, on the flat, well-watered plain north-west of Kolkata. The Howrah–Bardhaman railway passes through the town, and its long straight track gives the map a clear axis, with the station area and main roads gathered near it.
The rest of the town is a dense pattern of small lanes and houses interspersed with ponds, which are a characteristic feature of the Bengal landscape. On the map these appear as many small pale shapes scattered among the streets, and as the town gives way to farmland, the pattern opens into fields and village clusters.
Pandua is known for its tall medieval minaret, one of the oldest surviving Islamic monuments in Bengal, which stands at the heart of an older historic site in the town. A Pandua map poster shows the setting of that monument within the everyday fabric of the town.
The Howrah–Bardhaman main line runs straight through Pandua, a strong linear element that organises roads and settlement around the station.
The historic minaret and its surroundings mark an older part of the town, a site with deep roots among the modern lanes.
Numerous ponds dot the town between narrow lanes, giving the map a finely spotted, uniquely Bengali texture.
