Te mapa
Paolo VI is a district of Taranto in Apulia, built from the 1960s onward as a planned residential quarter. It was created largely to house workers from the large steelworks that transformed the city in that period. It takes its name from Pope Paul VI. On a map, it's clearly the product of a single plan rather than slow growth.
The layout is made of large blocks, broad roads and generous open spaces between residential buildings, typical of the modernist urban planning of those decades. The district stands apart from the rest of Taranto, separated by open land. This isolation is visible on the map, where Paolo VI reads as a distinct, self-contained island of streets.
A Paolo VI map poster brings out this planned geometry. The straight avenues, deliberate spacing and open land around the edges make a very different composition from the ancient island centre of Taranto. For people who grew up here, the map records a neighbourhood with a clear, purposeful plan behind it.
The district's roads follow a deliberate, orderly plan. The large blocks and wide streets reflect the planning ideas of the 1960s and 1970s.
Wide gaps separate the residential buildings, which gives the map a spacious, airy texture. The plan left room between housing blocks, and in black and white that shows clearly.
Open land surrounds the district and separates it from central Taranto. On the poster it looks self-contained, a clearly defined shape set against empty surroundings.

Koteā ko Paolo VI
For families whose history is linked to Taranto's steel industry, Paolo VI stands for a whole era of work and community. A map of the district honours that story. It also appeals to anyone interested in postwar Italian urban planning.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with your street name or the year your family arrived. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
