Grid on hills
The streets follow a largely regular pattern, but the hilly terrain nudges them into slight angles and curves, so the map has more movement than a flat city would.

Te mapa
Pato Branco lies in the south-west of Paraná, on the high plateau not far from the border with Santa Catarina. The name means white duck, an unusual and memorable one for a Brazilian city. It developed during the twentieth century as the centre of a farming district, and today it is also a hub for education and services across the south-west of the state.
From above, the street network is mostly regular. The ground is not flat, though, and the grid bends gently as it follows hills and valleys. Main avenues cross the town and connect it to the highways that lead to neighbouring cities. Around the edges, fields, patches of woodland and small watercourses form an irregular border around the urban core.
A Pato Branco map poster captures a young, growing town at a scale that is easy to read. The balance of grid and topography, the green patches and the roads leading out to the countryside make a calm, structured composition. It suits people who live in the region, graduates of its colleges, and anyone who has moved away and wants to keep its outline close.
The streets follow a largely regular pattern, but the hilly terrain nudges them into slight angles and curves, so the map has more movement than a flat city would.
Highways approach from several directions and meet at the town, which makes its role as a service centre for south-western Paraná easy to see.
Fields, woodland and small streams wrap around the built-up area, forming a soft, irregular edge that frames the denser pattern of the centre.
