Te mapa
Porto is built on the steep north bank of the Douro, a few kilometres before the river reaches the Atlantic. On the map its old centre is a tangle of short, sharply turning streets climbing from the Ribeira waterfront toward the cathedral and the Clérigos tower. Across the water, Vila Nova de Gaia mirrors it, its riverside lined with the lodges where port wine is aged.
The river is spanned by a sequence of bridges, most famously the double-deck Dom Luís I bridge, with a metro line on its upper level and road traffic below. Upstream, the iron Maria Pia bridge, built by the company of Gustave Eiffel, crosses the gorge in a single arch. The historic centre was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1996.
West of the centre, the streets loosen into the long avenues of Boavista and the seaside district of Foz, where the river mouth opens onto the ocean. A Porto map poster traces that journey from dense medieval lanes to broad Atlantic boulevards, with the Douro curving through the middle as the one line that holds everything together.
Narrow lanes tumble down to the river quay, forming a compact, irregular pattern at the water's edge that reads as the densest texture on the whole poster.
Six bridges link Porto and Gaia, from the Arrábida near the river mouth to the Freixo upstream. On the map they cross the Douro like a row of stitches.
Where the Douro meets the Atlantic, the city's edge turns to face the sea, with a seafront road running north along rocky beaches toward Matosinhos.

Koteā ko Porto
Porto holds a lot of memories for people: an Erasmus year, a honeymoon, a family from the north of Portugal, or simply a long evening on the Ribeira. The river and bridges make it one of the most recognisable city shapes to frame.
Change the title and subtitle to a date, names or a favourite street, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles; Noir renders the Douro as a dark ribbon, while Paper gives it the feel of an old engraved city plan.
