Te mapa
Puerto Escondido lies on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca, where the coastal highway runs close to the sea and the land rises quickly behind it. From above, the town is defined by its shoreline: a sequence of small coves and rocky points to the west, the sheltered main bay in the middle, and the long, straight sweep of Zicatela Beach to the southeast.
Zicatela is one of the best-known surf breaks in the world, its powerful beach break often called the Mexican Pipeline. Behind it runs a strip of streets parallel to the sand, while the older centre around the main bay climbs the hillside in irregular blocks. El Adoquín, the pedestrian street near the bay, is the familiar heart of the town.
Highway 200 crosses the town on the slope above the water, separating the coastal strip from the neighbourhoods further inland, and the airport runway sits on the western side of town. A Puerto Escondido map poster keeps the rhythm of bays and headlands sharp against the open Pacific, which fills a large part of the frame.

The main bay sits at the centre of the shoreline, a gentle curve where fishing boats come ashore and the old town rises in irregular blocks up the hillside.
West of the main bay the coast breaks into small coves such as Carrizalillo and Puerto Angelito, creating a finely indented edge between rocky headlands.

Koteā ko Puerto Escondido
Surfers, travellers who stayed longer than planned, and couples who married on the beach all have their own reasons to keep this coastline close. The map captures the Pacific edge exactly as it looks from above, bays and all.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a date, a name or the break you rode, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose one of five styles, Sand being a natural fit for a beach town, then download the HD files or order a printed poster.
