Te mapa
Rangkasbitung is the capital of Lebak Regency in Indonesia's Banten province, west of Jakarta. The Ciujung River flows through the area in wide bends, and the town has grown along and around it. On a map, the river gives a clear, curving line against which the streets and railway are arranged.
The railway is a key part of the town's layout. Rangkasbitung is a stop on the line through Banten and the end of a commuter service from Jakarta, which ties it to the capital's daily rhythm. Around the station and the town centre, streets are tighter. Further out, they thin into villages, rice fields and hill country to the south.
A Rangkasbitung map poster also connects to literary history. In the 1850s, Eduard Douwes Dekker served as a colonial official in Lebak. Writing as Multatuli, he later published Max Havelaar, a novel critical of colonial exploitation. The town now has a museum dedicated to him.
The river loops past the town in broad curves and gives the composition a natural, flowing line through the urban fabric.
A rail line runs through the town, and commuter trains link it directly to Jakarta. The station area forms a clear focal point on the map.
South of the town, the land rises toward the hills of Lebak, and the road network turns to scattered rural lines.

Koteā ko Rangkasbitung
Rangkasbitung matters to people who grew up in Lebak, commuters who ride the line to Jakarta, and readers of Max Havelaar. A map poster keeps the river town in view wherever they live.
