Te mapa
Río Blanco lies in central Veracruz, just west of Orizaba, in a valley that runs up toward the Sierra Madre Oriental and the high country of Puebla. On a map, the town fills the valley floor, and the mountains close in on both sides. The river the town is named after runs through it, and the main road toward Puebla follows the same corridor.
The streets form a grid where the valley is wide enough, and they break up where the slopes begin. The large footprint of the old textile mill and its surrounding workers' neighbourhoods are still recognisable. To the east, Río Blanco merges into Orizaba and Nogales with no clear border, as part of one continuous urban area.
The town has an important place in Mexican labour history. The 1907 strike at its textile mill was violently suppressed, and it is often remembered as one of the events that led to the Mexican Revolution. A Río Blanco map poster shows a small industrial town in a striking mountain setting, with a history that matters far beyond its size.
Road, river and town all follow the same narrow valley. The mountains on either side frame a long, linear composition.
The former textile mill site and the workers' housing around it form a recognisable, regular part of the street pattern.
On the eastern side, Río Blanco blends into Orizaba. The map shows how the two towns have grown together along the valley.
