Te mapa
Rio Rico is a community in Santa Cruz County, southern Arizona, a short drive north of Nogales and the Mexican border. It began as a large planned development in the second half of the twentieth century, and the map shows it clearly. Long, curving roads loop over the hills, many of them laid out well ahead of the houses that later filled them in.
The Santa Cruz River runs through the valley floor, lined in places with cottonwoods and farmland, and Interstate 19 follows the same corridor north toward Tucson. The interstate and the river create two parallel lines through the middle of the composition. The subdivision roads spread out on the higher desert ground on either side.
A Rio Rico map poster shows how people settled a dry, open landscape: sweeping road patterns, scattered homes and a green river corridor at the centre. The looping streets look almost abstract from above, which makes the place an unusual and striking subject for a minimal print.

The river runs north through the valley, its narrow green corridor forming a soft line down the centre of the map.
The highway follows the valley toward Tucson and lies parallel to the river, a strong, straight axis across the print.
