Ruse Map Poster & Print

Ruse lies on the south bank of the Danube in northeastern Bulgaria, directly across from the Romanian city of Giurgiu. On the map, the river forms a broad, heavy edge along the northern side of the city, and the streets run down toward it from the higher ground inland. The Rusenski Lom river joins the Danube on the eastern side of the city.

The old centre has a formal, ordered feel, with a main square, wide boulevards and blocks of nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century buildings that earned Ruse the nickname Little Vienna. Beyond the centre the city opens out into later residential districts and industrial areas along the riverbank.

East of the city, the Danube Bridge crosses to Romania. For decades it was the only bridge between the two countries along their shared stretch of river. A Ruse map poster frames the city against the wide sweep of the Danube, with the bridge as a slender line reaching across the water.

The Danube

The river runs along the entire northern side of the city, a wide band of open space that gives the poster a strong, calm base.

02

Danube Bridge

The road and rail bridge to Giurgiu crosses the river east of the centre, a fine straight line across the water.

03

Little Vienna centre

The central square and its boulevards form a formal, orderly core, a clear contrast to the looser streets of the outer districts.

He mapa ʻe maʻuhiga

Ruse is a river city with a strong identity, and a map of its streets along the Danube speaks to anyone who grew up there, studied there or crossed the bridge on a journey through the Balkans.

Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, in Latin or Cyrillic script, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the river read especially boldly.
