Te mapa
Salavat was founded in 1948 alongside a new petrochemical plant, and its map reflects that origin. The residential city was laid out on a regular plan, with broad avenues, rectangular blocks and later microdistricts, while the industrial zone occupies its own large territory to the side. The two halves are easy to tell apart from above: a fine residential grid next to a coarser pattern of plant sites and rail sidings.
The Belaya River, called Agidel in Bashkir, passes close to the town, with floodplain woods and old meanders along its banks. The town takes its name from Salavat Yulaev, the Bashkir poet and one of the leaders of the eighteenth-century Pugachev uprising, who is widely regarded as a national hero of Bashkortostan.
The same name is carried by the Ufa ice hockey club Salavat Yulaev, so many people know it before they know the town. A Salavat map poster sets out the planned avenues, the river and the industrial edge in clean lines, a portrait of a post-war industrial town drawn at its most legible.
The residential core follows a post-war plan of straight avenues and regular blocks, later extended with larger microdistricts. The order of the plan is immediately visible on the poster.
The river curves past the town through a band of floodplain forest and oxbow lakes, giving the frame its only irregular, natural lines.
The petrochemical complex covers a large area beside the residential town, drawn as long roads, rail lines and wide plots that contrast with the finer residential streets.

Koteā ko Salavat
Many families in Salavat have ties to the plant and to the years when the town was built. A map poster holds that story in a single image: the avenues people walked to work, the river they visited on weekends, the district where they grew up.
The poster can carry your own title, a subtitle and a date, alongside the coordinates line. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and choose between HD files for $9 or a matte print shipped by a partner close to you.
