Te mapa
San Jose fills much of the flat floor of the Santa Clara Valley, at the southern end of San Francisco Bay. On the map, a grid of long, straight streets stretches across the valley, cut by freeways such as 101, 280, 680 and 880. To the east rise the foothills of the Diablo Range, and to the west the Santa Cruz Mountains close the view.
The city was founded in 1777 as the Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe, the first civilian settlement in Spanish California. Its downtown is small and compact, sitting beside the Guadalupe River, and the airport lies unusually close to the centre, a long, clean shape just to the north.
A San Jose map poster shows the valley that became Silicon Valley, with its orchards long since replaced by neighbourhoods, campuses and highways. The regularity of the grid, set against mountain edges, gives the map a strong sense of structure.
Long, straight arterial roads divide the valley floor into large blocks, a regular pattern that stretches for miles across the city.
The river runs north through downtown toward the bay, bordered by a green parkway that forms a thin, winding line through the grid.
The Diablo Range foothills to the east and the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west frame the city, where the grid ends and contour lines take over.

Koteā ko San Jose
San Jose is home to people who built careers in tech, families who have lived there for generations and new arrivals from all over the world. A map of the valley makes a calm, graphic reminder of that place, at home or in an office.
Add a title and subtitle, perhaps with the year you moved or a neighbourhood name, and edit the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as a $9 HD download or a printed poster.
