Suburban curves
Loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs make up most of the street network. Together they form a dense, rhythmic texture that looks especially good at large sizes.

Te mapa
Security-Widefield is a large unincorporated community just south of Colorado Springs, on the high plains east of the Front Range. On the map, it is almost entirely residential. Neighbourhoods of curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs fill the land, divided by a few long arterial roads and green corridors.
The community grew in the postwar decades, largely because of nearby military installations. Fort Carson lies to the west, and Peterson Space Force Base is to the northeast. Fountain Creek runs along the western side of the area, and its tree-lined corridor separates the neighbourhoods from Interstate 25 and the mountains beyond.
A Security-Widefield map poster emphasizes texture: tightly packed suburban curves, broken by straight roads, parks and the creek's winding course. In black and white, the neighbourhoods become an intricate pattern, and the open plains around them give the design a natural frame.
Loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs make up most of the street network. Together they form a dense, rhythmic texture that looks especially good at large sizes.
The creek winds along the west side of the community, its green corridor separating the neighbourhoods from the interstate and the land beyond.
Fort Carson and Peterson Space Force Base both lie nearby. Many residents have ties to these installations, which shaped the area's growth.
