Te mapa
Siping stands on the wide, open plain of western Jilin, between Changchun and Shenyang. The railway shapes its map more than anything else: tracks from several directions meet at the city, and the main districts spread out on either side in a fairly regular grid of long blocks. Beyond the edge, farmland stretches away in the large rectangular fields typical of the Northeast.
The city grew around the rail junction in the early twentieth century, which made it strategically important. During the Chinese Civil War it saw fierce fighting between 1946 and 1948, and it is still widely remembered for those battles. Today Siping is a regional centre for farming, food processing and machinery.
A Siping map poster presents a clear, easy-to-read city: straight streets, rail lines cutting across them and a few parks and small rivers breaking up the pattern. The flat ground gives the composition a calm, even texture, and the railway lines become the main graphic element, like the ruled lines on a sheet of paper.

Most districts are laid out in a simple grid of wide streets and long blocks, a pattern that looks especially clean in black and white.
The surrounding countryside is almost flat, divided into large rectangular fields and straight roads that frame the city core like a margin.

Koteā ko Siping
Many people in Northeast China pass through Siping by train, and many others call it home. A map poster of its grid and rail lines is a quiet tribute to a place that rarely gets a souvenir of its own.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, add a year or a district name, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits a railway city with such clear lines particularly well.
