Te mapa
Skegness faces the North Sea on the Lincolnshire coast, and its map is dominated by a single, almost straight coastline. The resort grew in the late nineteenth century to a planned layout of broad streets running inland from the seafront. That gives the town an orderly shape, with the promenade, gardens and pier forming a clear edge against the sand.
A Skegness map poster shows the contrast between that tidy plan and the open coast. To the south, the town thins out toward the dunes and saltmarsh of Gibraltar Point nature reserve, where the shoreline turns toward the Wash. Inland, the flat farmland of the Lincolnshire marsh stretches away, crossed by drains and straight country roads.
The town is famous for the Jolly Fisherman, the figure on a 1908 railway poster with the slogan 'Skegness is so bracing'. It is still one of the best-known posters in British travel advertising. Generations of holidaymakers from the Midlands arrived here by train, and the town's layout still reflects its seaside purpose.
The North Sea shore runs in a long, clean line down the east side of the map. It gives the poster a strong edge and a sense of open horizon.
Broad Victorian streets lead from the town centre to the seafront. They form a neat pattern that reads clearly at any print size.
At the southern end, dunes, marsh and tidal creeks break the coastline into softer, branching shapes where the coast turns toward the Wash.

Koteā ko Skegness
For many people across the Midlands, Skegness means family holidays, first summer jobs on the front and day trips by train. A map poster is a fitting tribute to a town that became famous through a poster in the first place.
Add a title, a subtitle with the year of a memorable summer, and adjust the coordinates. Choose from five styles, including Noir for a moody North Sea feel or Sand for something warmer. Download the HD files for $9 or order a framed print.
