Te mapa
Srīperumbūdūr sits on the flat plain west of Chennai. On a map it reads as two layers. There is a compact old core of lanes gathered around a temple, and around it a much looser pattern of highway, factory plots and reservoirs. The main road to Bengaluru cuts straight through the area. It sets the direction for almost everything built in recent decades.
The town is known as the birthplace of Ramanuja, the medieval philosopher of the Sri Vaishnava tradition, and the temple associated with him still anchors the centre. It is also where former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in 1991, and a memorial now stands on the site. Both give a small town an outsized place in Indian memory.
A Srīperumbūdūr map poster also shows water. Irrigation tanks and lakes spread as pale, irregular shapes across the surrounding land. Next to them, the large rectangles of manufacturing parks look strikingly geometric. The contrast between the old tank-fed farmland and the newer industrial grid is what gives this part of Tamil Nadu its character from above.
The old centre forms around a temple and its surrounding streets, a dense knot of short lanes that stands out against the open, loosely built land beyond.
The Chennai–Bengaluru highway runs through the area as a long, confident line, with side roads and industrial access routes branching off it at regular intervals.
Irrigation tanks scattered across the plain appear as soft, rounded water bodies, a reminder of the farming landscape that existed long before the factories arrived.

Koteā ko Srīperumbūdūr
For many people this is a place of pilgrimage, and for others it is where a career in manufacturing began. A map holds both. It is a quiet way to mark a connection to Ramanuja's birthplace or to a working life built along the highway west of Chennai.
