Forest and town
Large wooded areas reach right into the town, so housing, factories and trees sit next to each other on the map instead of being split into centre and countryside.

Te mapa
Stadtallendorf looks unusual from above. Instead of a medieval core with rings of later growth, the map shows residential streets and industrial sites spread through large patches of forest in central Hesse. Much of the town grew after 1945 on and around wartime works that had been hidden among the trees. That history still shapes how the street plan is laid out today.
During the Second World War, two large explosives plants were built in the woods near the village of Allendorf. After the war, the camps and factory buildings were turned into homes and workplaces for refugees and newcomers. The settlement grew fast, received town status and in 1960 took the name Stadtallendorf. Its population today still reflects many decades of migration.
A Stadtallendorf map poster shows this pattern clearly. Neighbourhood grids stop at the edge of the woods, long straight access roads lead to industrial areas, and the old village streets sit off to one side. The forest takes up almost as much of the frame as the built-up area, and that gives the print a quiet, open feel.
Large wooded areas reach right into the town, so housing, factories and trees sit next to each other on the map instead of being split into centre and countryside.
The sites of the wartime explosives plants left a grid of straight roads through the woods, and much of it was later reused for industry and housing.
The original village streets are still visible as a small, irregular cluster next to the more regular postwar districts.

Koteā ko Stadtallendorf
People who grew up in Stadtallendorf or arrived there as part of its long history of migration often want a picture of the whole town, forest included. A map shows the place as it really is, without any single landmark standing in for it.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name or a year of arrival. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
