Te mapa
Stittsville lies on the western edge of Ottawa, and has been part of the city since the municipal amalgamation of 2001. It began as a small village along a railway line and grew over recent decades into a large suburban community. On a map, that history is easy to read: a straight old main street, the line of the former railway, and all around them loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs of newer neighbourhoods.
The old rail corridor through Stittsville has been turned into a multi-use trail, and it cuts diagonally across the street pattern as a clean, continuous line. Highway 417 runs along the north side of the community, forming its most obvious boundary. A Stittsville map poster captures this contrast between the long straight routes of the past and the softer, rounded shapes of modern residential design.
Parks, sports fields and stormwater ponds are spread through the subdivisions, and to the south and west the streets give way to farmland and woodland of the Ottawa Valley countryside. The result is a map with a clear centre and a gradual fade at the edges, where the city meets open land.

The former railway line, now a walking and cycling trail, cuts a long diagonal through the neighbourhoods of the poster.
Newer subdivisions add looping streets, cul-de-sacs and ponds, giving the map its soft, rounded texture.
