Te mapa
Taunusstein lies in the Taunus hills of Hesse, a short distance north of Wiesbaden. On a map it does not look like a single town. It is a group of separate villages scattered across valleys and slopes, divided by forest and fields and connected by winding roads. The largest settlements follow the valley of the Aar, a small river running north through the area.
The town was created in 1971, when ten villages were merged into one municipality, among them Hahn, Wehen and Bleidenstadt. Each village has kept its own centre and street pattern. Wehen is also known as the origin of the football club SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Around the settlements, the Taunus forest fills large parts of the map and gives the whole print a green-and-open rhythm.
A Taunusstein map poster shows a town built from pieces: compact village cores, newer residential areas between them and forest all around. The layout has an uncommon, almost archipelago-like structure. It suits people who grew up in one of the villages, families who moved out from Wiesbaden and Frankfurt and anyone fond of the Taunus landscape.

The small Aar river runs through the town's main valley, and several of the larger districts line up along its course.
Extensive woodland surrounds and separates the settlements, forming wide calm areas between the finer street patterns.

Koteā ko Taunusstein
The poster works well for someone attached to one particular village but who thinks of Taunusstein as home. It is also a good gift for families who settled in the hills after years in the city.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the name of your village or a moving date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9 and include a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF.
