Te mapa
Três Passos lies in the northwest of Rio Grande do Sul, in a region of gently rolling hills not far from the Uruguay River and the border with Argentina. The town centre is laid out as a regular grid, a pattern shared by many of the agricultural colonies of southern Brazil. It stands out clearly against the irregular farmland around it.
Past the last blocks the map turns into a patchwork of fields, strips of woodland and streams winding through shallow valleys. Rural roads run out from the edges of town toward neighbouring municipalities. This gives the design a star-like structure, with the dense grid at its centre and open country in every direction.
The regional economy rests largely on agriculture, and that relationship between town and field is exactly what a Três Passos map poster shows best. It is a plan of order set in a softer landscape, a town whose layout makes sense once you see how neatly its streets meet the land around them.
Straight streets and evenly sized blocks form the heart of town. This geometry is easy to spot from above and contrasts sharply with the curving shapes of the countryside.
Country roads leave the grid in several directions toward nearby towns and farms. On the page they look like spokes reaching out into the fields.
Small watercourses run through shallow valleys around the town. Lines of trees follow them, adding thin, meandering marks to the agricultural patchwork.

Koteā ko Três Passos
People from the Noroeste Gaúcho often keep strong ties to their hometown after moving to Porto Alegre or further away. A poster of Três Passos puts that familiar grid on the wall, a small, exact reminder of where someone started.
Change the title, add a subtitle such as a family name or founding year, and set the coordinates line. Five styles are available, and printed posters ship from partners in more than thirty countries, with an optional wooden frame.
