Te mapa
Vaujany lies in the Oisans area of Isère, on a steep, sunny slope above the valley of the Eau d'Olle. The village is built in terraces on the mountainside, with roads zigzagging up between the houses. Below it, the valley holds the Lac du Verney, a reservoir linked to the Grand'Maison hydroelectric scheme further upstream, which shows on the map as a long, narrow shape of water.
Revenue from that hydroelectric development helped the village build its large cable car, which rises from Vaujany toward the Alpe d'Huez ski area. As a result, a small mountain village has direct access to one of the largest domains in the Alps. The commune itself is large, around sixty-five square kilometres, and much of it is high, open ground with lakes and streams.
A Vaujany map poster combines several strong elements: the stacked, winding streets of the village, the smooth outline of the reservoir, and the straight line of the lift heading up the mountain. Together they make a map with clear structure and plenty of contrast, well suited to a large print size.
Vaujany's houses rise in steps up the slope, linked by switchback roads, so the village appears on the map as a compact, layered cluster.
The reservoir in the valley below forms a long, smooth shape among the mountain lines, part of the hydroelectric system of the Eau d'Olle valley.
A lift line climbs from the village toward the Alpe d'Huez slopes, connecting a small mountain community to a very large linked ski area.

Koteā ko Vaujany
Vaujany is known as the quieter way into the Alpe d'Huez ski area, and people who stay there tend to become attached to the village itself. A map shows why, with the lake, the lift and the terraced streets in one frame.
