Abucay Map Poster & Print
Abucay is on the east coast of the Bataan Peninsula in Central Luzon, facing Manila Bay. From above, it stretches from the shore inland. Along the coast there are fishponds and tidal flats, in the middle the town centre, and to the west the slopes that climb toward the mountains in the interior of Bataan.
The town has an important place in Philippine history. In the early seventeenth century, a press run by Dominican missionaries operated in Abucay, and it is linked to Tomás Pinpin, remembered as one of the first Filipino printers. The old stone church still stands at the town centre.
An Abucay map poster shows the typical order of a bayside town: water and fishponds on one side, the road along the coast and the poblacion in the middle, and farmland and hills inland. The geometric fishpond walls make the shoreline especially striking.
