Grid of blocks
Like much of Port Said, the district is built on flat ground with fairly regular blocks and long straight streets, a pattern that reads clearly and calmly on a poster.

关于地图
Aḍ-Ḍawāḥy Map Poster & Print
Aḍ-Ḍawāḥy is one of the districts of Port Said, the city at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal on Egypt's Mediterranean coast. From above, Port Said occupies a narrow strip of land with the sea to the north, the canal to the east and Lake Manzala to the south and west, and its districts fill this flat, water-bound site with dense grids of streets.
Port Said was founded in 1859, at the start of construction of the Suez Canal, and grew in stages as the canal and its harbour expanded. Aḍ-Ḍawāḥy, whose name refers to outlying areas, developed as the city spread beyond its original core, and its streets are now part of the continuous urban fabric of Port Said.
An Aḍ-Ḍawāḥy map poster frames a neighbourhood in context: regular blocks, long avenues and the water that surrounds Port Said on almost every side. It is a way for residents and those who grew up here to keep their own part of the city in view, rather than only the famous waterfront.

Water on all sides
Port Said's site is defined by water, with the Mediterranean to the north, the Suez Canal to the east and Lake Manzala to the south and west.
The canal entrance
Nearby, the Suez Canal meets the sea, and its harbour basins and the ferry crossing to Port Fuad on the eastern bank form the city's best-known edge.
