Beckum Map Poster & Print
Beckum lies in the district of Warendorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, on the southern edge of the Münsterland plain. Its old centre is a compact oval of streets that once sat inside a town wall. On a map that shape is still easy to read, with a ring of roads tracing the former line of the fortifications.
Outside the core, the town has spread into residential quarters and industrial areas, and the surrounding land tells its own story. Beckum has long been a centre of the cement industry, and large limestone and marl quarries sit around the town. On the map they appear as wide open basins with terraced edges, unlike the fields and woods nearby.
Nearby rise the Beckumer Berge, a low range of hills that interrupts the flat Westphalian landscape.
