Bohuslav lies in the south of Kyiv Oblast on the Ros River, and the river decides how the town looks from above. The Ros runs through it in a series of bends and narrow channels. Islands and rocky shallows split the water, and the banks rise into granite outcrops that stand out from the surrounding flat farmland.
The town is spread across both banks, and a few crossings connect the halves. Older streets follow the contours near the water. Newer districts spread out on higher ground in a more regular pattern. Parks and green strips line much of the riverbank, because the steep, stony edges have kept building back from the water.
Bohuslav counts itself among the oldest towns in the region, and the Ros valley around it is known for its granite landscape. A Bohuslav map poster makes the river the main subject. Its broken, many-branched course winds through the town, and the streets arrange themselves around it.
