The Rubi River
The river curves past the town and gives the map its main natural line, a slow bend that the street pattern partly follows along its banks.

关于地图
Buta Map Poster & Print
Buta lies in the north of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and serves as the administrative centre of Bas-Uele province. The Rubi River passes by the town, and on a map its winding course sets the direction for much of the settlement, with roads following the higher, drier ground beside it.
From above, the pattern is modest and clear. A central grid laid out during the colonial period gives way to looser neighbourhoods, and then to tracks that fade into the surrounding forest. Green space dominates the edges of the frame, so the built area reads as an island of lines in a large field of empty paper.
A Buta map poster keeps that relationship intact: river, town and the roads that leave it heading toward other towns of the Uele region. It is a sparse composition, and the sparseness is the point, showing how a regional centre holds together in a landscape where distances are long and routes are few.

Central grid
The older core of Buta is laid out in straight streets, a small geometric block that stands out clearly against the irregular paths around it.
Roads into the forest
Several routes leave the town and thin out into single lines through the forest, emphasising how open and green the surrounding land is on the map.
