Cannes lies on the Côte d'Azur between the Esterel hills and Antibes, facing the Mediterranean across the Bay of Cannes. Its map is organised by the shoreline: the Boulevard de la Croisette runs along the beach from the Palais des Festivals to the Pointe de la Croisette, while the town climbs gently inland in a mesh of streets and villa gardens.
West of the Old Port rises Le Suquet, the medieval core, where lanes wind up to a hilltop church and watchtower. Offshore sit the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, the latter home to a monastic community. Since 1946 the town has hosted the Cannes Film Festival, which gave it a name recognised around the world.
A Cannes map poster sets the calm arc of the bay against the dense grid behind it, with the islands floating near the lower edge. In monochrome the beach promenade reads as one clean sweep, the harbour as a set of sharp geometric jetties, and the hill of Le Suquet as a small spiral of streets.
