Chimala Map Poster & Print
Chimala lies in Mbarali district of Mbeya region in south-western Tanzania, on the Tanzam highway that connects Dar es Salaam with Zambia. The town stretches along the road at the base of a steep escarpment, with the high ground of the Southern Highlands rising sharply to the south and the flat Usangu plains opening out to the north.
The plains are one of Tanzania's main rice-growing areas, irrigated by rivers coming down from the highlands. Chimala is also the starting point of a well-known mountain road that climbs the escarpment in a long series of tight hairpin bends, leading up toward Matamba and Kitulo National Park, a high plateau known for its wildflowers and orchids.
A Chimala map poster brings those contrasts together. The highway draws a long, straight line along the base of the slope, the town gathers beside it, and the switchbacks above add a sharp zigzag pattern that stands out against the smooth plains below.
