Chingford Map Poster & Print
Chingford is the northernmost part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest, where the city meets open country. It has two very clear edges. To the west, the large reservoirs of the Lea Valley lie in a line along the river. To the east, Epping Forest begins almost at the end of the last streets.
Between them lies a residential grid of terraces, semi-detached houses and small shopping parades, which grew up after the railway arrived. The line terminates at Chingford station, and the town extends from there. Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, built for Henry VIII in the sixteenth century, stands on the edge of the forest.
