Disūq Map Poster & Print
Disūq lies in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate, on the east bank of the Rosetta branch of the Nile. On the map the river forms a broad, gently curving band along the town's western side, and the streets fill the flat ground beside it. Canals and field boundaries fill the fertile countryside all around.
The town is known throughout Egypt for the mosque and shrine of Ibrahim al-Desouki, a thirteenth-century Sufi saint and founder of the Desoukiya order. His annual moulid draws very large numbers of visitors and turns the town into one of the Delta's major pilgrimage centres for several days.
A Disūq map poster is shaped by the Nile branch, the dense streets of the old town and the finely divided Delta farmland. The river gives it a calm, strong edge, and the mix of irregular lanes and straight canals makes it a detailed print even though the town is not large.
