The Chama river
The river flows past the town on its way down from the Andes, drawing a curving line that contrasts with the straight streets beside it.

关于地图
El Vigía Map Poster & Print
El Vigía stands in the lowlands of Mérida state, where the Andes drop away toward the plains around Lake Maracaibo. The town sits beside the Chama river, and from above its streets form a fairly regular grid across level ground. Around the edges, the grid breaks into farmland, with roads striking out in long straight lines across the plain.
It is the main lowland town of Mérida state and a transport point for the region: its airport serves travellers heading up to the city of Mérida in the mountains. The surrounding land is agricultural, and the town works as a service and market centre for the farms of the Sur del Lago area.
An El Vigía map poster is about order and flatness. The street blocks repeat evenly, the river marks one edge with a looser line, and highways run out toward the lake and the mountains. It is a plain, honest plan, and in monochrome that regularity becomes a pleasing pattern.

Regular street grid
Much of the town is laid out in even blocks on flat land, a repeating pattern that gives the poster its calm structure.
Roads across the plain
Long straight roads leave town toward the lake and the mountains, extending the map outward into open agricultural land.

为什么选El Vigía
一张有意义的地图
El Vigía is where many journeys into the Mérida Andes begin, and for those who grew up there it is simply home. A clean map of its grid is a understated way to mark that place on a wall, far from it or close by.
