Ettumānūr is a town in Kottayam district in central Kerala, laid out along the Main Central Road, one of the state's key north–south routes. On a map the highway forms the spine, with smaller roads branching into a loose, green landscape of houses, coconut groves, paddy fields and waterways typical of this wet, low-lying region.
The town is best known for the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple, a major Shiva shrine famous for its old murals and its traditional festival. The temple compound gives the town a clear historic centre, and the roads around it show how the settlement grew outward from a religious focus rather than from a planned grid.
