Venetian walls
The old town is enclosed by massive sixteenth-century fortifications with angular bastions and a moat. On the map they form a sharply defined outline that frames the whole historic centre.

关于地图
Famagusta Map Poster & Print
Famagusta stands on the eastern coast of Cyprus, facing the open Mediterranean. From above, the most striking element is the old town, a roughly rectangular enclosure of Venetian fortifications. Bastions project from its corners, and a dense web of lanes fills the inside. The harbour sits directly against the walls on the seaward side, and the modern city extends outward from there to the west and south.
Inside the walls, the Gothic former Cathedral of St Nicholas is still the dominant landmark. It was converted into the Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque in the sixteenth century. The citadel by the harbour is traditionally linked with the setting of Shakespeare's Othello. South of the centre lies Varosha, the beachfront district that was fenced off and largely abandoned after 1974.
A Famagusta map poster renders the fortifications as a crisp geometric outline against the softer shapes of the newer streets and the long coastline. The water, the walls and the grid of the beach district together make a composition that is both historic and plainly modern. It works equally well in monochrome or in the warmer Sand style.

Harbour and citadel
The port lies right against the walls, and the citadel at its edge guards the entrance. The old town and the sea meet in a single compact corner of the plan.
Varosha coastline
To the south, a straight line of former hotel blocks follows the sandy shore. The district has stood largely empty for decades and shows as a regular grid beside the sea.

为什么选Famagusta
一张有意义的地图
Famagusta means very different things to different people: a family home remembered from before 1974, a university town, a place of medieval walls and quiet beaches. A map lets each person hang the streets that matter to them without needing to explain why.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a name, a date or a family address, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster, framed or unframed.
