Gasuba lies in the highlands of the South Ethiopia Regional State, in a part of the country known for dense rural settlement and intensively farmed slopes. Seen from above, the town is organised around its principal roads, with streets and compounds filling the ground between them. The pattern is informal and follows the terrain rather than a strict geometric plan.
Southern Ethiopia's highlands are green, hilly and heavily cultivated, and that landscape shapes how towns like Gasuba appear on a map.
